inhabitation

This section deals with the atmosphere in the village which is marked by the signs of the every-day. The focus lies on objects and appearances that originate in human presence. They suggest that the place is not dead but rather full of a quiet life.

The traces of inhabitation can be read in the built environment and its elements such as the facades, the doors, the stairs.

They also show up in the way the village dresses itself up with flowers during summer.

Inhabitation –  i.e. the concrete use of a place and its built environment – is responsible for the evolution of local building types and practices which are briefly summarised here.
