Life in Ronco is not anonymous. The village is populated by distinct personalities and faces which form a community in which everyone knows everyone.

This chapter deals with the inhabitants. On the one hand, it gives a quantitative account of the situation in the valley by looking at the demographic development and the level of employment. On the other, people are portrayed in their daily living and working environment.
