LeTUCWiRo: Lenticular Trusses Used To Construct a Widespannned Roof |
The goal of this project was to design a wide spanned roof of a new building for ITA (Institute for Technology in Architecture). Inside, there must be an open space without supports and the structure must be able to take strong asymmetrical loadings due to robotic cranes that will be attached to it. In addition, there must be a high degree of resistance against side loadings due to wind forces.
We have designed a structure based on lenticular trusses that have a vertical reaction force on the supports. Diagonal tension elements accommodate for the asymmetric loads. For the side loadings, we have increased the structural depth of the section by using smaller and bigger truss modules.
