Reading fiction is one of my favourite pastimes. I try to read more than 40 books per year in genres such as fantasy, crime, romance, and classics (see my Goodreads page). I am an avid Harry Potter fan and I am the president of my BILBO Bookclub for which I read at least one classic every month, culmulating in over 50 books over the years.
I received a one-year part time musical education in 2008 at Djemm! for which I did multiple gigs in the Netherlands and Germany and ultimately performed in the musical All die Djezz! (Chicago). That same year, I performed in the play Babylotion at the theatre festival of Tilburg. Several of my holidays have been dedicated to theatre: I travelled to Edinburgh to visit the Fringe Festival in 2013. I have also seen several performances on West End in London, among which The Mousetrap and Harry Potter and The Cursed Child. Recent musicals that I have seen in Switzerland include original productions of The Lion King, Cats, and West Side Story.
I love discovering new places and getting to know the local history, culture, and nature. A significant amount of my holidays has been Harry Potter, theatre, or book themed. Recent holidays include Japan (2016), Harry Potter London (2016) with the BILBO Bookclub, and Anastasia's Saint Petersburg (2017).
Every month, I donate to KiKa, Villa Pardoes and Plan Nederland. Foundation KiKa (Children Cancerfree) funds childhood cancer research and supports the children cancer research centres in the Netherlands. Villa Pardoes is a holiday park in which families with seriously ill children can stay for a (care)free, weeklong holiday with entrance to the theme park Efteling. For Plan Nederland, I have a foster child named Thokozire Phiri in Malawi. Monthly donations are used to improve facilities in her village. Besides the foster parents plan, Plan Nederland also dedicates itself to improving the situation of girls around the world.
