Public Notes Installation Guide
Note: Message me when doing it because I need to allow file sharing manually per device.
- Download Syncthing (Base)
- Start Syncthing (web GUI)
- Under the Remote Devices Menu (bottom right), click on "Add Remote Device" and add the id:
4VVE5DQ-4GUD7ZG-I77TE5M-ZEJFSDS-IOTSSIV-DTLHMZG-3MYZOOL-TAZO2QA
. Let me know when you have completed this step.
- After I have sent the sharing request, you should receive a "arch-surface wants to share a folder" notification. Accept.
- Select where you want to save the notes. You may change the folder label.
- Set the folder type to "Receive Only".
- To save battery, you may also want to disable "Watch for changes".
- Download Obsidian.md
- Once the downloading of the shared files is done, start obsidian and click on
open folder as vault
and add the folder you created in step 4.
- To keep in sync, I usually have the sync active after every lecture. Let me know if there are any issues.
Browsing the Vault
- In the Settings, enable community plugins.
In particular, download the LaTeX Suite Plugin.
- To properly load the LaTeX, open the
LaTeX Macros
page on startup.
- Enable the Backlinks Plugin. It is very useful. For example, it can show you where a certain result or definition is used.
- You may want to add other plugins. Play around with it.
- If you want to contribute to the vault, let me know and we can find a way to make the syncing two-sided.
