Student Projects

Optical coherence tomography (OCT) is an in vivo imaging technique with particularly high spatial resolution. It is widely applied in ophthalmic examinations for the detection of structural abnormalities. More recently, the combination of OCT with external loading forces (elastography) has been suggested for the retrieval of local material properties, which in turn serve as an early diagnostic tool for certain tissue pathologies. The current challenge is the specific design of external loading stimuli and the subsequent material identification out of the recorded localized deformation maps. Ideally, optical coherence elastography should allow to retrieve elastic, viscous and microstructural tissue parameters.

In this context, the following projects are currently available for semester projects or master theses. Projects can be adapted to the student's individual background and thematic preferences. Please contact klings(at)ethz.ch for further information and discussion.
