Andrea Carron obtained his bachelor and master degree in Control Engineering from the University of Padova, Italy. He developed his master thesis within the field of robotics at the University of California Riverside, USA. Within his thesis, he worked on receding horizon control applied to the control of robot swarms with competitive and cooperative behaviours. In 2013, Andrea Carron started his PhD at the Information Engineering Department of the University of Padova working on robotics, multi-agent systems, machine learning and distributed optimisation. During his PhD, he spent two stays abroad as a visiting researcher: the first at the Max Planck Institute in Tübingen, Germany, working on localisation algorithms for UAVs and the second at the University of California Santa Barbara, USA, working on the design of optimal multiple Markov chains. In 2010/2011 and 2012/2013, he took part at two ESA REXUS/BEXUS with the projects ARCADE and ARCADE-R2. In January 2016, Andrea Carron started working for McLaren Racing as Simulation Development Engineer where he was in charge of developing advanced simulation technologies and the implementation of new model architectures. In October 2016, he joined the Intelligent Control Systems Group of ETH Zurich and the NCCR Digital Fabrication as a postdoctoral researcher.
