I was born on Oct. 8, 1954 in Clausthal-Zellerfeld and studied mechanics at the TU Braunschweig and the Virginia Polytechnic Institute (VPI), U.S.A., where I graduated as M.Sc. in Mechanics on June 10, 1983. |
My career includes positions as junior scientist at the DLR at Braunschweig and structural analyst at DORNIER SYSTEM GMBH, Friedrichshafen. Since 1988 I am a senior scientist at ETHZ. |
My research interests cover mechanical modeling, stress analysis and failure prediction of parts made from composite materials, and computer aided structural and design optimization methods. |
I am teaching the courses "Structural Analysis with FEM", "Structural Optimization", "Mechanics of Composite Materials", "FEM Programs" (Engineering Tools), and together with E. Mazza “Methoden der Strukturanalyse”. |
