Diophantine Approximation
Course overview
The course will consist of three parts. In the first part we discuss geometry of numbers, in the second part we cover approximation of algebraic numbers by rationals and in the third part we treat transcendence theory.
Organization
Classes take place in ML E 12 on Wednesdays from 16:15 to 18:00. There will be no class on 10 April and 29 May due to personal travel.
Course dates: 21/02, 28/02, 06/03, 13/03, 20/03, 27/03, 17/04, 24/04, 08/05, 15/05, 22/05.
The final exam will be an oral exam of 20 minutes, taking place at the end of the semester. Part of the questions will be based on the exercises that you can find in the course notes.
